1. As Republicans, we believe that the free market is the best way to distribute goods and services. Government interference in the free market economy usually results in increased costs overall of the distribution of goods and services.
2. As Republicans, we believe that the current leadership in Orange County taxes too much and spends too much. We believe that our county government can cut spending by prioritizing and spending money only where it is appropriate to spend taxpayer dollars, and we believe that our County can run it's operations without any tax increases.
3. Due to the current leadership's stance on commercial growth, Orange County must rely solely on property taxes for its support. We believe that reasonable commercial growth must be promoted, or we will continue to lose sales tax dollars to Durham and Alamance Counties.
4. We believe our school systems should concentrate on teaching academic subjects with tried and true curricula. We do not believe schools are the place for implementing liberal agenda. And we believe that more dollars spent on schools should reach the classroom and the classroom teacher, and less should be spent on administrators' salaries.
5. Finally, as Republicans we believe that property owners are the best ones to determine how their property should be used, and we do not agree with current government practices that so limit the use of private property that the economic value of such property is greatly reduced.
