Orange County


 Each year the county chairman will call precinct meeting in March.

  A Precinct is defined as one of several districts into which a county is divided for voting; each contains one polling place. Orange County has 44 voting precincts.  Find your precinct HERE.

 In odd-year Precinct Meetings attendees at the Precinct Meeting shall elect a Precinct Committee consisting of a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary and as many Members-at-Large as are deemed necessary to conduct the business of the Precinct.

NOTE: Orange County Republican Party usually conducts the Precinct meeting at and prior to the County Convention. At that time delegates are elected to attend the county convention.

 County Convention

The County Convention is a meeting of all of the 44 precincts of Orange County in March.

In odd-numbered years the County Convention shall elect a Chairman, a first and second Vice-Chairman, a Secretary, an Assistant Secretary, a Treasurer, an Assistant Treasurer, and such other Officers as may be deemed necessary, who shall serve for a term of two years or until their successors are elected

The County Convention shall adopt or amend a written County Plan of Organization not inconsistent with the State Plan of Organization, a current copy of which shall be on file with the County Secretary or County web site and at State Headquarters.

The County Convention shall elect one Delegate and one Alternate to the Congressional District and State Conventions every year plus one for each 100 registered Republicans in the county.


Congressional District Convention

North Carolina is divided into 13 Congressional districts. All 44  of Orange County's precincts are in the 4th Congressional (Dem. David Price).

The Congressional District convention is held in April or May each year and the agenda is similar to the county convention but on a larger scale. Officers will be elected during odd years.

Delegates will be elected to the NC State Convention which is held the first weekend of June.

Delegates to the National Convention will be elected during Presidential election years.


North Carolina State Convention

State Conventions elect State Officers during odd year conventions. Here the State Platform and Plan of Organization will be debated and adopted.


 Republican National Convention


The Republican National Convention (RNC) is the presidential nominating convention of the Republican Party of the United States. Convened by the Republican National Committee, the stated purpose of the convention is to nominate an official candidate in an upcoming U.S. presidential election, and to adopt the party platform and rules for the election cycle.
