ORANGE COUNTY CONSERVATIVES
1. As Republicans, we believe that free market Capitalism is the best way to distribute goods and services. Government interference in the free market economy eventually results in increased costs overall of the distribution of goods and services, thereby increasing the cost to the individual citizen.
2. As Republicans, we believe that the current leadership in Orange County overspend and subsequently overtax the citizenry. We believe that our county government can cut spending by prioritizing and spending money only where it is appropriate to spend taxpayer dollars, and we believe that our County can run its operations without any tax increases or exaggerated property valuations.
3. Due to the current leadership's stance on commercial growth, Orange County must rely solely on property taxes for its support. We believe that reasonable commercial growth must be promoted, or we will continue to lose sales tax dollars to Durham and Alamance Counties thereby increasing the tax burden that the individual is forced to pay.
4. We believe our school systems should concentrate on teaching academic subjects with tried and true curricula. Schools are not the place for implementing liberal, leftist agenda. And we believe that more dollars spent on schools should reach the classroom and the classroom teacher, and less should be spent on administrators' salaries.
5. Finally, as Republicans we believe that property owners are the best ones to determine how their property should be used, and we stand strongly opposed to current government practices that so limit the use of private property that the economic value of such property is greatly reduced.
We are the Republican Party that holds the line in the county that is home to Chapel Hill and Carrboro North Carolina. We stand for individual Liberty and stand against the ever increasing over taxation and over- regulation by our Liberal Democrat dominated county government.
